About RIICT
Building a brighter future through digital education in Makeni, Sierra Leone.
From 4 Students to a Growing Institution
Rogbaneh Institute of Information and Communication Technology (RIICT) was founded on October 12, 2021, by Dr. Martin Y. Kamara with a vision to bridge the digital divide in Sierra Leone.
The institute began with just 4 students and 2 computers in a small space in Makeni. Despite humble beginnings, RIICT's commitment to quality education and practical training quickly attracted more students.
Today, RIICT offers 12 comprehensive ICT training programs, serves students annually, and has graduated individuals who have gone on to pursue careers and entrepreneurship opportunities across Sierra Leone.
The Computer Literacy Gap
In Sierra Leone, access to quality computer education remains limited, especially for young people in provincial cities like Makeni. Many students complete secondary school without ever using a computer. This digital gap limits employment opportunities and entrepreneurship potential.
RIICT exists to change this. We provide affordable, practical ICT training that equips students with real-world skills they can use immediately — whether seeking employment or starting their own businesses.
12 Programs, Practical Skills
We offer 9 Standard courses covering essential computer skills — from Introduction to Computers to the full Microsoft Office suite — and 3 Professional courses in Computer Maintenance, Graphic Design, and Statistical Analysis (SPSS).
Beyond training, we provide ICT services to the community including computer repair, software installation, printing, scanning, and laminating services.
